Good Rot
Get your microbes locally
What began as a fascination with microbes turned into cultivation of hand crafted fermented foods.
Small batches, each hand crafted
Take a hyper fixation, add some cabbage and pretty soon you have a passion for integrating fermented foods into every day diets.
It’s not just attention to our process—it’s the intention behind it. With a passion to preserve and build strong practices, communities, and guts; everything from sourcing of ingredients, to production, to packaging is intentionally thought out.
It’s all about gut health, right? Well, partially. Fermented foods are a powerhouse to our guts, but maintaining a healthy microbiota extends to fiber, overall diet, and even daily habits.
So why should you include fermented foods into your diet? For many reasons, from hydration to biodiversity but there are a few underrated highlights.
*Flavor* You can not replicate the diverse flavors of fermented foods with conventional, convenient foods. You will not taste complexity in industrialized products like you will with something that’s been intentionally cultivated for anywhere from days to months to years. And our taste buds know it.
*Food Sovereignty* Handling our own food or directly sourcing where our food/food products come from is taking control of the labor of our food instead of reliance on large industries. By putting people, producers and land in the forefront of our food system we not only are taking the right to define how our food is grown, who grows it, processes it, and consumes it, but it makes for stronger homes, communities, and guts.
